Yeehaw! It’s rodeo time! That’s right, once a year, Folsom goes country, when the annual Folsom Pro Rodeo comes to town.  The next couple of weeks will be filled with music and fun, culminating in the big event… This Thursday, June 14, join the community for the Historic District Summer Stroll. This is a free community mixer from 530 to 730, and Sutter Street merchants will be offering discounts and specials.

There will also be a concert at the Amphitheater featuring the Rhythm Vandals. Be sure to stop by Marly and Moo, where FLYP (Folsom’s Leading Young Professionals) will be mingling at their Happy Hour Hangout. Enjoy Marly and Moo’s famous pretzels, tots, along with drink specials from rodeo sponsors, Coors and Jack Daniels.

Every Tuesday in June, Arthur Murray Dance Company will be offering Country Swing and Line Dance classes. Drop-ins welcome, for only $10.

On June 22, don’t miss Folsom’s favorite country star, Dave Russell as he bring his rockin’ band to Lions Park for a free concert. Bring a picnic and your dancin’ shoes, and show us what you got.

June 29 is the Folsom Family Round Up. This free event is your opportunity to meet the stars of the rodeo, including some 4-legged ones. Rub elbows with the cowboy crowd, meet the rodeo queen contestants, the professional bull jumpers (have you seen these guys?), the Flying Cowboy motocross stars and more. Live music by Chad Bushnell. All happens at Lions Park from 6pm t0 9. June 30 is the Historic Folsom’s Hometown Parade.

The Ophir Prison Band, The Pony Express, Soap Box Derby Cars, wild west groups, vintage fire & police vehicles, horses, Old West reenactments and much more! Parade is at 930am and should last about an hour. Hear live music by the always entertaining Island of Black and White until 1pm.

Now, on to the big event, the 58th annual Folsom Pro Rodeo! Barrel racing, bull riding, mutton busting, bull jumping, games and more come to Rodeo park for 3 nights of family friendly fun and entertainment. Each night ends with a fireworks show, and dancing at the Saloon Under the Stars. Don’t miss it! Note this year’s dates are June 30, July 1, and July 3rd.

MyFolsom’s got your Folsom Pro Rodeo discount tickets, too. All you have to do is enter Myfolsom2018 in the promo code box to take $5 off general admission.  Get ’em here

The rodeo runs on community volunteers, and if you want a fun and exciting way to be a part of the rodeo and see it from the inside, volunteer here. You get a fun assignment, a cool t-shirt and they feed you, too. Non-profit groups can earn a stipend for their organization by volunteering.

Note that will be no pro rodeo on July 2nd, as the Northern California Junior Rodeo comes to town that night.

So, mosey on down to Folsom for a good ole slice of Americana. Just another great reason to love Folsom! For more rodeo info, go to www.folsomprorodeo.com.
