Cycling, Tacos, Community Awards, Wine, Jazz and more!

It’s the first week of spring, and there are lots of great things to do in Folsom, inside and out.

Hacienda Reborn

Kicking it off is the first official day of business for the all new Hacienda Real Mexican Grill and Cantina opening Tuesday at 4pm. Hacienda Real, formerly Hacienda del Rio, has been born again with a new look, and new menu and bar program. Great views of the Historic District from the covered deck, or look out toward Lake Natoma from the cozy booths inside. Check it out.

Fun Bike Racing Series

Wednesday promises to be dry for the return of the Prairie City Race series. This fun, weekly competition is for all ages and experience levels.  Join friends, family and the local cycling community every Wednesday through May 24.

Celebrating Community Leaders

The Folsom Chamber of Commerce/Choose Folsom will be presenting their annual community awards to outstanding Folsom’s businesses, individuals and organizations Thursday evening at Lakeside Church. Attendees will be treated to local wines and light appetizers as they celebrate this year’s winners. Among those scheduled to be honored are Small Business of the Year recipient ‘Anita Grey’ of Anita Rochelle’ Boutique, and the Educator of the Decade, Curtis Gaesser, leader of Folsom High School’s award-winning jazz program. Wine and all that Jazz

Friday marks the return of the annual Folsom Wine and Jazz event at the Zittel Family Amphitheater. Sample wines from around the region, enjoy bites from local restaurants, and bid on silent auction items, while listening to great jazz music, performed by Folsom HIgh and Middle School students.

Get Your Yard Ready for Spring

Don’t miss the Folsom Landscape Fest this Saturday. Learn how to care for your landscaping while reducing your water usage. There will be exhibits, demonstrations, free resources and giveaways. Tips on best practices for irrigation, Folsom-friendly plants, rebates and more.

Master gardeners will be on hand to answer your questions.

Free kitchen pails for food scraps, free mulch and wood chips.

The event takes place Saturday from 10 to 2 at the new Mangini Ranch Elementary School.

Visit an Open House or Two

The housing market is heating up, and although listing inventory is low, there are some nice homes on the market in Folsom. Go visit some open houses and get a feel for what’s out there. Now, if you want to see any of the listed properties that aren’t having open houses, drop me a line and I’ll get you in.

So, there you have it, a whole lotta good stuff going on this week. Go out and get some!
