It’s been quite a while since my last ‘Heard around Folsom’, and with so much bad news in the world, I thought I might let you know of some of the good news going on around town. Here goes….
… about 200 people showed up at Ruby’s Books to pick up a copy of Winnie & Ruby’s Folsom ABC Adventure, and to meet author Brian Wallace. This is a great book for young and old to learn about Folsom, taking a tour guided by Winnie the Pig (you may see her and her human, John, walking Sutter Street), and Ruby herself, the super friendly co-owner of Ruby’s books, along with her human Stacey….
Speaking of Stacy, she picked up the ‘Best Emerging Business’ award at the Folsom Chambers of Commerce/Choose Folsom annual Community awards. Among the other honorees were Evangeline Scott of Reliance Home Loans, who donated over $60,000 to local charities last year. Another honoree was Adrian Blanco of Adrian Blanco Jewelers, who raised nearly $100,000 at a gala for the Folsom Police Foundation. See the complete list on the Gold Country Media article here ….
Live music is back at Palladio center, in the plaza between in front of the Palladio 16 movie theater, between the Buckhorn Barbecue and Back Bistro. Now visitors can get dinner and a movie and a song…
..over 1000 guests celebrated with 50 wineries at the second annual Foothill Wine Fest at Palladio Center. A lot of great wine was poured that night, and my wife’s favorite was Gwinllan Estate’s Best of Show Sparkling Rose…
…Folsom Lake level is now at 94% of historic average for this date. The drought’s not over, but recent and coming storms are doing their part…
… Lastly, and this is pretty incredible, a group of regular customers from Manderes Restaurant (my favorite for a gourmet burger and a beer), so appreciative of the staff for provides outstanding, friendly service, and keeping the place going throughout the pandemic, took the entire crew out to dinner at the Back Bistro. Manderes and Back are both closed on Mondays, so the regulars asked Jeff Back if he’d open up for this special dinner. Who does that?
So, remember that despite what you see on TV, read on the web, or hear on the radio, there is good stuff happening. Go out and make some good news of your own.
