News Flash: Vista del Lago High School at Capacity

vista del lago

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District sent out a bulletin this afternoon stating that enrollment at Vista del Lago High School is at max capacity, and any new students moving into the Vista attendance boundary will have to enroll at Folsom High for the 2019/2020 school year.

Students may be placed on a waitlist, but there is no guarantee they will be cleared to go to Vista.

The problem is that Vista del Lago was built for a smaller population, and there is no room for growth.

Folsom High, on the other hand, has plenty of slots for enrollment, and as it sits on 65 acres, there is room for development and/or temporary classrooms as needed.

Note that Folsom High is rated 10 out of 10 by Great Schools, and has an outstanding record for academics (2018 Academic Decathlon Champs), sports (4 time state champion football team) and the Folsom High Jazz Band has been consistently ranked among the best in the country. So, the kids won’t lose anything by going there. It just may be a little further for some.

To enforce the new policy, the district will be verifying addresses to make sure that kids are going to the schools they are supposed to go to.

There is talk of redrawing the boundaries for next year, but nothing concrete thus far.
