Hey Folks -There are two great opportunities to learn, grow and lead coming up here in Folsom.
First, the Folsom Citizen’s Academy.
The Citizen’s Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and the residents of Folsom. The Academy is also a required basic training program for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program. Guest agencies also participate in the academy to provide information on their services.
The Folsom Police Department covers topics such as Use of Force, CSI, Identity Theft, 9-1-1 reporting, Traffic Safety, SWAT, Narcotics, Domestic Violence and K-9 and Mounted Demonstrations. The Folsom Fire Department teaches on Emergency Services. Topic such as Code Enforcement, Animal Control, Water Management, and Park and Recreation are taught by other City agencies.
The Citizen’s Academy is held annually, so take advantage of this opportunity! The academy is open only to Folsom residents, 21 years and older.
Classes begin March 11 2015, and are held for 11 consecutive weeks on Wednesday evenings at 6:00PM. Applications are required and class size is limited. Many of our city leaders; employees, elected officials and appointed commission members are graduates of one or both programs, as am I. I highly recommend them.
