Would you like to get more involved in your community? Or perhaps you’d just like to learn more about the wonderful community in which you live? Here is an opportunity for you to do both! The Folsom Police and Folsom Fire Departments invite you to attend the Annual City of Folsom Citizen’s Academy, which is both informative and fun.

The Citizen’s Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and the residents of Folsom. The Academy is also a required basic training program for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program. Guest agencies also participate in the academy to provide information on their services.

The Folsom Police Department covers topics such as Use of Force, CSI, Identity Theft, 9-1-1 reporting, Traffic Safety, SWAT, Narcotics, Domestic Violence and K-9 and Mounted Demonstrations. The Folsom Fire Department teaches classes on EMS and Disaster Preparedness. Topic such as Code Enforcement, Water Management, and Park and Recreation are taught by other City agencies.

The Citizen’s Academy is held annually, so take advantage of this opportunity! The academy is open only to Folsom residents, 21 years and older. Classes begin March 12, 2014, and are held for 11 consecutive weeks on Wednesday evenings at 6:00PM. Applications are required and class size is limited.
