At last week’s ‘State of the City’ address, City Manager Evert Palmer, standing in for Mayor Kerri Howell announced that Vision Service Plan will be opening a new lens grinding facility in Folsom this year, and in addition to the approximately 380 employees being moved to the facility, they will be hiring 200 to 250 more.
They will be moving to the new facility, located on Blue Ravine Rd, by November.
Mr. Palmer also announced that another major company may be moving here as well, but it wasn’t final.
Yesterday, Safe Credit Union announced that they will be consolidating operations into the building which previously housed Waste Connections on Iron Point, and consolidating over 250 administrative jobs into that location.
Think about what this will mean not only for job-seekers, but to the restaurants, gas stations, shops and service providers who will see an increase in business, and to the City’s coffers. It could also increase the demand for housing, possibly pushing prices further up.
