20 Questions With… Mayor Steve Miklos


You may already know Steve Miklos, who currently serves as city mayor, in addition to his day job as a mortgage broker. Mayor Miklos has lived in Folsom for over 17 years, and before his life as a city mayor, was a certified paramedic and firefighter. We take a look at the mayor on a little more of an impersonal level – politics aside, what makes him tick? Well, here’s 20 questions to help find out.

 



1. What do you love most about Folsom?
Everyone has a true sense of community, and they continue to share as new people move into Folsom.

2. What made you move here initially (or did you grow up here)?
After retiring from the Fire Department, my friends told me about Folsom. It reminded me of where I grew up in Southern California.

3. Who is your role model or hero?
I pattern myself very much like my former fire department captain and friend. He is truly a remarkable individual!

4. What’s in your CD player right now?
Eagles, ZZ Top, Earth, Wind and Fire

5. Where did you grow up?
Chatsworth, Calif. (Southern Ca., San Fernando Valley)

6. If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you like to have?
I would love to fly… Who wouldn’t?

7. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Moose Tracks Ice Cream.

8. What’s your favorite Folsom restaurant?
I really do not have just one, but I can be frequently seen at Visconti’s, My Brother Vinny’s, Baileys, Hacienda, and Scotts Seafood.

9. What were you like as a kid?
EXTREMELY active in team sports; water skiing; music; camping and fishing.

10. Biggest regret in life?
Getting hurt in the Fire Department!!!

11. Best decision you’ve ever made?
Moving to Folsom

12. Do you have any hobbies?
Water skiing; guitar; fishing, and weight training

13. Who is your favorite Sacramento King?
Vlade Divac

14. If you could interview anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Thomas Jefferson

15. What’s the closest you’ve ever come to death?

Having a building collapse on me while fighting a fire.

16. If you had to start a new career, what would you do?
Teach high school and coach football and baseball.

17. What’s your vision of Folsom in 20 years?

Hopefully the same as it is now, but with less air pollution.

18. If you could change one thing in Folsom, what would it be?

Have the wind blow the pollution back to Sacramento and the Bay area, AND have a new bridge done below Folsom dam.

19. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Deliberate, dishonest people!!!

20. What’s your “home” page set to on your computer?
