20 Questions With… Ali Arfa

1. What do you love most about Folsom?
I love how family oriented this town is. Even though we are expanding at an unbelievable rate our town remains very close like a family.

2. What made you move here initially (or did you grow up here)?
I moved here because Jaimie (my wife) has lived here all of her live. Folsom has a certain ambiance about it. You just want to be here, it’s relaxing and fast paced all in one.

3. Who is your role model or hero?
My Parents
Chief Master Jack Corrie (My Instructor and father in-law now)
Master Professor Gary Garrett (My first Instructor)
Grand Master Duke Moore (Also one of my Instructors)
Grand Master J H Lee (Head of the United World Taekwondo Association)

4. What is your proudest achievement (personal or professional)?
Obtaining the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt in 7 different martial arts styles.
Taekwondo, Kenpo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Judo, Shotokan, Aiki Jujitsu.

5. What’s in your CD player right now?
Sounds of Feng Shui, Pink Floyd, Frank Sinatra.

6. If you could open up your own business here in Folsom, what would it be?
Our second Folsom Family Taekwondo Center!

7. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Citrus Heights

8. If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you like to have?
The ability to Fly

9. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Dreyer’s Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream

10. What’s your favorite Folsom restaurant?
Visconte’s, Mr. Visconte is hilarious.


11. What were you like as a kid?
I was a die hard Taekwondo practitioner

12. Biggest regret in life?
I do not regret anything in my life. Everything good or bad happens for a reason. The universe is not build to make us fail it is build to make us succeed.

13. Best decision you’ve ever made?
Getting married to my my beautiful wife, soon to have a baby, taking over Folsom Taekwondo.

14. Do you have any hobbies?
Reading, body building, and martial arts.

15. What’s the most interesting destination you’ve ever been to?
Pacific Beach near in San Diego on the fourth of July Weekend

Bruce Lee

17. If you had to start a new career, what would you do?
Folsom Police Department.

18. What’s your vision of Folsom in 20 years?
I see Folsom to be a leader in education in the state.

19. What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When my students answer with “YEAH” instead of “YES SIR”
