Well you know the fallback restaurant that’s good for mother’s day or an office lunch every now and then (perhaps a hangover)? You can’t really go wrong at Mimi’s… the food will leave you full!
I was a little cautious the first time I came to Mimi’s. At the time, our twins were two… and going to a restaurant was a sketchy proposition at best. You try to plan for the worst and hope for a little luck. Mimi must have been a mom… not 2 minutes in to sitting at our table, someone from our wait staff dropped by with a couple of small snack-size bowls of Froot Loops and some crayons. Needless to say, we enjoyed our meal and our kids were quiet! It was awesome.
We’ve been to Mimi’s several times, and I’d say what I like most about the place is that it’s great comfort food. I usually find myself devouring the fresh muffins and bread before my meal arrives. I know it’s a bad idea and all, but they are so yummy! I can’t help myself. The food arrives and it’s always way too much. I’m usually not one for large portion sizes, but if you go in thinking you will definitely have leftovers for tomorrow, it’s not so bad.
Last time I was there, I had the chicken pot pie… It was enormous (natch), and tasty. My only complaint is that the pot pie was scalding hot. I’d much rather wait a couple of minutes for it to cool down than to get it when it’s cold though. I can’t really elaborate much on it, it’s a pot pie. It was delicious. Was it worth the $8 or so it cost? Hard to say, I suppose I could have bought a Swanson’s pot pie for a fraction of the price, but I don’t think my wife would have been amused on our date night.
My only caution was that the service was a tad slow, but I only think I was really paying attention because we had a movie to catch. We made the movie, but I think next time we’ll go with Maui Tacos by the theater.
