More Support for Raising Folsom Dam

Support for raising the Dam by 7 feet is growing. Representative Bob Matsui (D-Sacramento), has vocally expressed support for raising Folsom Dam by 7 feet to decrease the likelihood of a catastrophic flood to hit the Sacramento Valley. If this proposed project is passed, work would begin in 2003, and would cost approximately $219 million dollars. However, John Doolittle (R-Rocklin) has expressed opposition toward raising the dam, in hopes of building an Auburn Dam up the way.

The 2003 water projects bill could be on the House floor by July. For more information, there is an article in the Sacramento Bee.
